Menomonie man found dead in Flambeau River

Sawyer County (WQOW) – An elderly Menomonie man who went missing from a cabin in the town of Winter, was found dead a few hours later in the Flambeau River.

The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a missing 88-year-old man around 8:52 p.m. Thursday. He was missing from a cabin on Schmidt Road, on the Flambeau River, in Winter.

At about 11:59 p.m., the man was found dead in the river, from an apparent drowning. 

The man’s name is not being released at this time.
