Western WI coach faces charges for allegedly sending inappropriate pictures to student-athlete

Hudson (WQOW) – A western Wisconsin high school coach faces charges, accused of sending inappropriate pictures to one of his student-athletes.

Benjamin Schrock, 23, is a JV girls soccer coach at Hudson High School. Schrock is accused of using Snapchat to send at least two nude pictures of himself to a 16-year-old girl last month. Snapchat photos disappear after several seconds and cannot be reopened.

The girl said she texted Schrock the next day, and that he said didn’t remember what he had done because he had been drinking.

When police questioned him, Schrock denied drinking that night, but said he is a sleep walker who does things he doesn’t remember.

Schrock is free on a signature bond, with orders not to have contact with the school, any children, and not to use Snapchat. He must also wear a GPS monitor.

In a letter to parents, the Hudson School District said Schrock has been placed on administrative leave, and that no concerns were raised when his background check was done before he was hired.

Schrock is the second Hudson coach to face charges of inappropriate behavior in the past eight months.

Here is the full letter sent to parents in the district:

Dear Hudson Families and staff,

Providing a safe environment for our athletes/students and caring for your children are the most important responsibilities we have in the Hudson School District. We take that duty very seriously.

On Thursday, May 17th we learned law enforcement arrested, Ben Schrock, Hudson High School’s JV Girls Soccer Coach for alleged inappropriate communication with a minor. The School District is working in cooperation with law enforcement and the District Attorney’s office as they investigate the allegations. The School District has directed Ben Schrock to have no contact with any Hudson School District students, and he is not allowed to come to School District property or activities. He has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the School District’s investigation.

The Hudson School District conducted a background check before Ben Schrock was hired. There were no concerns raised as a result of this background check. Background checks are part of the School District’s procedures for all staff and volunteers.

The Hudson School District will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as the legal process moves forward. We will continue to keep the best interests of your children and all of our athletes as a primary concern.

We know people may have additional questions. Due to the ongoing legal investigation, the School District may not able to answer all of the questions you may have. Your questions may be directed to Superintendent’s Office or Hudson Police Department.

Sincerely,

Nick Ouellette, PhD
Superintendent of School
