Jail ordered in Altoona employee theft case

A woman who police say stole thousands of dollars from her Altoona employer was sentenced Friday to 60 days in jail.

Judge Shaughnessy Murphy also ordered Kim Poirier to pay restitution, and placed her on probation for five years. Poirier, from Withee, worked as a bookkeeper at Aerco Collision. She was accused of stealing more than $3000 by pocketing the money when customers paid in cash, and by charging personal expenses to the company’s credit card.

Based on the charges, Poirier had faced a maximum sentence of nearly 40 years in jail and $70,000 in fines.
