Eau Claire (WQOW) – The RDA granted WiRED Properties a 90-day exclusive right to reach a purchase and development agreement of land on First Street in the Cannery Redevelopment District.
As News 18 reported, the idea is based on the pocket neighborhood concept and features smaller detached single-family units around a community gathering space.

Eau Claire (WQOW) — A section of Eau Claire’s lower west side is being eyed for a possible ‘pocket’ neighborhood.
WiRED Properties, out of Milwaukee, has proposed a housing project for Eau Claire’s Cannery District. Economic Development Administrator, Mike Schatz, told News 18 the company wanted to be a part of Eau Claire’s development. Schatz said WiRED Properties wants to create a ‘pocket’ neighborhood along the 2300 block of First Avenue. A ‘pocket’ neighborhood is a community of a small group of houses in one spot. Schatz said the project could have a lot of upsides for the area.
"Convenience to the downtown, so the walkability, the bike trail, accessibility near the river front. I think those are all important components that we hear from residents that they would like," Schatz said.
Schatz also said the Redevelopment Authority will meed Wednesday to determine whether to move forward with the housing project. He said that’s when the company will survey the area, but no official start date have been determined.
