Eau Claire (WQOW) – January’s Tools for Schools Grant will be used to help kids learn a foreign language with the help of noise-canceling headphones.

Every month, WQOW along with Asher Lasting Exteriors and CCF Bank award an area school with a $500 grant to help in the classroom.

This month’s grant was awarded to Eau Claire Memorial High School’s world language classes.

Jeff Hansen requested the grant so that he could buy noise canceling headphones for the students.

These headphones allow the students to collectively practice their language skills out loud without bothering or distracting each other. There are currently enough headphones for about half of the class to participate and this grant would allow everyone to get a pair.

“We are just absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity,” Hansen said, “We’re always looking to use technology to make our lessons a little bit more powerful, a little bit more impactful and we really think that this will be able to do that for us.”
