Eau Claire officers celebrate National Coffee with a Cop Day

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Wednesday was National Coffee with a Cop Day, and Eau Claire officers were out and about, handing out cups of joe.

Officers began on Water Street, then moved to Barstow Street with a mobile coffee cart. Law enforcement were hoping to hand out 175 cups of coffee, but the coffee was simply an ice breaker for the true purpose of the event.

“Starting with the premise, basically of trying to encourage that one-on-one interaction with our neighbors, to address community concerns or issues that they have,” said Bridget Coit of the Eau Claire Police Department.

Coit said locals were surprised to see officers connecting with people, but the interactions will only grow the community closer. Coit also said this won’t be the last time officers are out with a hot brew.
